Is ADHD always obvious in a kid?
The quick answer to this is No.
Sometimes the TYPICAL symptoms that you, teachers and even doctors expecting to see as ADHD do not show up in people with it ADHD.
Innatention is one symptom of ADHD, when a child is worried about getting into trouble, they may be able to hone in on this depending on how severe their ADHD is. Sometimes children (and adults) will have a mixture of ADHD and ASD and so where one piece may not show up, another will.
Some children (and adults) have the ability to pay attention to some things and not others. When people call that lazy, they need to understand that it ISN’T laziness, it is a scientific difference in the brain.
Here is a video that explains what is happening in the brain. https://youtu.be/0w3Y6-KUkzA?si=3vxEhDCkmuKtXuAp
Please don’t assume that anyone doesn’t have ADHD because they don’t “look” like what your idea of ADHD is. We all look and act differently.
